Hello Remote Learning Families,

We are so excited to have you join us in Remote Learning for the 2023-2024 school year.

As parents and caregivers, you are our partners in learning. This is even more true as the learning has moved into your home. Here are some strategies to assist learning as you support your child(ren).

Considerations

School Space

Encourage the idea that this space is the school space and return to it each day. This promotes a routine and structure that helps students focus and self-regulate.

Set-up

  • The computer/device is sitting on a table or desk
  • Space that includes a chair, space to stand, younger students may even choose to sit or lay on the floor while working at certain times of the day
  • Select a space that has a neutral background such as a wall  directly behind the child , so they are not in a busy area of the home, this helps to provide family privacy when the camera and microphone are on
  • A quiet area where students and educators can easily hear each other
  • Headsets can help students focus
  • All materials are accessible and organized in a school box or shelf

Materials

In late September, students will receive core learning materials. You may already have other required materials in your home. Your child’s educator will check with you about these items as the weeks unfold. You will need to pick these items up from what we call your “home school”, this is usually a school close to your home.
