Asynchronous
Asynchronous learning means that the educator and the students in the course all engage with the course content possibly at different times and from different locations. The educator provides students with lessons/activities which the students move through on their own. The lesson/activity might include assigned readings or uploaded media, video instruction, online quizzes, discussion boards, and more. The educator guides the students, provides them with feedback, and assesses them as needed.
Synchronous
Synchronous learning means that the educator and the students in the course engage with the course content and each other at the same time, but from different locations. The educator interacts with students in real time by means of tools such as google meet to livestream audio, video, collaborative documents, and presentations. We will be using D2L/Brightspace Virtual Classroom or Google Meet to hold live classes or meetings, Brightspace’s chat feature to engage in live conversations, Google Docs to simultaneously edit documents, virtual small group work, and more.
