As an administration team, we wanted to express our appreciation and gratitude to our students and families for all of their hard work with the start up of our Elementary Remote Learning Schools.

We wanted to take the opportunity to discuss the importance of teachers being able to visually see their students in the virtual learning environment.

Educators use three key methods to guide students’ learning and determine the next steps:

  • Observations of student learning
  • Conversations with students about their learning
  • Student work

Two of these three methods of supporting student growth in learning require cameras to be on.

In remote learning, we have found that it is incredibly important for teachers to have the ability to talk to students and observe them working.  Keeping cameras on will increase student engagement and will help teachers gain a deeper understanding of student interests and learning needs.

We would also like for you to consider subscribing to and book marking our Elementary Remote Learning Website, which will allow you to keep up date with the latest information from our program:
